We all have ignored/rejected God and His ways (a.k.a. our sins), and our sins separate us from God, his love, goodness, and his power in our lives. In order to remove the penalty of our sins (eternity in Hell), and make eternal life possible for us, God sent Jesus Christ to take upon Himself the blame and the punishment for our sins upon Himself (He took our place). He was sinless yet was brutally murdered (nailed to a cross), and buried; BUT… He rose from the dead on the third day defeating the power of sin and death on our behalf. He then appeared to over 500 people and before returning to Heaven, told His followers to tell everyone on earth to turn to Him for the forgiveness of their sins and He will give them the promise of eternal life. (Luke 24:46-47)
"For all have sinned and fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet now God in His gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God's anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed His blood, sacrificing His life for us." (Roman 3:23-25a)
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17)
You can receive Jesus Christ into your life right where you are
1. Confess to God that you have sinned
2. Turn from your sin and turn to God
3. Ask Jesus Christ to come into our life to be your Lord and Savior
4. Resist any urges to turn away from God
Pray in your own words, or pray this prayer with sincerity to God:
"Dear Jesus Christ, I admit that I have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I am sorry. I thank you that in your love for me you took the blame for my sins upon yourself and in my place suffered the punishment that I deserved for them. With your help, I now choose to turn from my sins and I ask you to come into my life to be my Lord and Savior. You gave your life for me and now I give my life to you, and I will not take it back. Thank you for the good things that you have for me in this life and in the life to come as I keep my
commitment to you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."
The Bible says:
"I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God (Jesus Christ) so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13)
And "But as many as received Him (Jesus Christ), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)
